CAAWS Awards Aquabelles Coach
Canadian Association for advancement of Women and Sport and Physical
Activity Supports Aquabelles Coach, Laurel Alexander.

CAAWS has given it's support to Laurel Alexander. Alexander is one of 12
recipients of the 2005 WISE Fund. Alexander and her 11 counterparts
were chosen over 600 other applicants.
Laurel former national team athlete turned coach, Laurel is committed to her
new role as a full-time coach with the Calgary Aquabelles Synchronized Swimming
club, but lacks the formal education and training needed to excel. Although she
has taken some coaching courses and attended various clinics since her
retirement as an athlete in 2003, she will use the WISE Fund to help pay for her
Level 3 courses that she is required to complete in order to coach at the
national synchronized swimming championships.
Alexander's team finished Second at the Michelle Cameron Invitational held in
Calgary at the Talisman Centre. Her coaching style has proven itself in
and out of the water.
