Laurel brings 18 years
of Synchro experience to the pool everyday. Three of those years were spent
representing Canada on the National Synchronized Swimming Team. Throughout
her swimming years Laurel has learned the importance of working with a team,
pushing oneself to the limit, and setting goals. Laurel has been very
successful winning many medals nationally and internationally. Her two most
memorable achievements are winning Gold for Combo at the Swiss Open in 2000
(Theme: Michael Jackson) and winning Gold for Combo at Nationals in 2003
(Theme: Country).
In August 2004 Laurel
completed a Bachelor of Arts (with a Minor in Communications) at the
University of Calgary. Laurel is currently completing her Level 4 as well
as heading back to the University of Calgary to become a Life Coach.

Wildrose Head Coach & Coordinator:
I have been with the Aquabelles since 1968 when I was a swimmer. I swam for 6
years and then went on to coach. I coached our youngest swimmers for a period of
3 years and then moved up to Edmonton and coached with the Auroras for two
years.
I returned to Calgary and the Aquabelles have been my good friend ever since. I
coached teams at the 12 & Under and 14 & Under level. I was not involved during
the 80s but started back when my girls started to swim. Debbie Muir and I put
together a once a week program that I taught. We quickly moved those girls into
competition and I became a permanent fixture around the club.
I again coached 14 & under teams with my biggest accomplishment being a 6th
place finish at Nationals for our 14 & Under "B"team. My move into a coach
mentor has been exciting for me. I love working with the younger girls and am
always excited at their enthusiasm and eagerness to learn. I am proud of the
Aquabelles and the impact this club has on the young women that spend time with
us.
